La proposta de l'estudi presentada al concurs d'Avantprojectes de la Reurbanització de la Plaça Sóller i l'Ampliació de l'equipament existent a la mateixa plaça, al Barri de Porta, al districte de Nou Barris, Barcelona, convocat per BIM/SA, va merèixer una menció especial "per generar el major nombre de debats en el sí del jurat, tant pel seu atreviment com pel seu rupturisme", segons l'acta del mateix.

The BCQ’s proposal submitted to the competition for the Redevelopment of Plaça Sóller and the extension of existing facilities in the same place, Nou Barris district of Barcelona, organized by BIM/SA – Barcelona City Council, was awarded a special mention "for having generated the largest number of debates in the jury decision, both for its audacity and for its ground-breaking view" according to the jury agreement.

ACCESSIBLE, PERMEABLE, CÒMODE, HUMÀ ... OBERT
En el futur la Plaça Sóller serà un parc, això sí, un parc PLE d'activitat perfectament connectat amb la resta del barri.
De fet imaginem el nou Parc Sóller com el centre vertebrador d’un sistema de recorreguts de vianants del barri de manera que torni a esdevenir un centre de referència per a tots els veïns, sigui qui sigui la seva edat, ocupació o interessos.
El parc ha de ser el centre de tot allò que sigui col·lectiu, allò que ens faci estar junts, allò que ens faci compartir ... i per això es proposa un enorme augment de tota mena d'activitats que hi tindran Iloc.
Naturalment, el parc ha de ser un lloc de pas, i un lloc d'estada, una part del teixit urbà i social del barri però també un espai molt ben enjardinat, un espai de natura dins la ciutat. Ha de ser còmode, proper, agradable... i ple de vida. Tota mena de persones han de tenir motius per utilitzar-lo a totes hores.
Es proposa prescindir del porxo, la passarel·la i la plaça dura geomètrica i completar la zona baixa del parc amb un paisatge arbrat.
Es proposa abaixar el nivell arbrat en aquesta zona perquè quedi a nivell del carrer Estudiants i tingui franca continuïtat amb el carrer Palma de Mallorca.
Es proposa prescindir de la part central de l’edifici actual (escalinates) per possibilitar aquesta connexió. Les dues franges laterals de l’edifici actual s’amplien cap el parc i conformen un nou espai intern en el que s’hi proposa una esplanada per fer festes, grans activitats col·lectives i esport.
Els dos nous edificis poden ser el nou centre de la Plaça Sóller, casal d’entitats, gimnàs, auditori...
Dos petits volums als voltants de la nova esplanada faciliten els usos esportius i recreatius (centre d’esports, bar, gelateria...)
Tots els edificis tenen la coberta enjardinada, i en els dos principals, aquesta coberta és accessible i utilitzable.
Un pont permet el recorregut entre l’un i I’altre, com en l’actual passarel·la.
Aquests edificis semi soterrats recorden els refugis de la bòbila de la guerra civil. No ocupen part del parc sinó que es col·loquen a sota de la catifa vegetal i faciliten les activitats.
Una nova xarxa de camins amb un paviment acolorit i especial recorre el parc i connecta amb la resta del barri, sense esgraons, amb nous pendents.
ACCESSIBLE, PERMEABLE, COMFORTABLE, HUMAN... OPEN
In the future, the Sóller Square will become a park, albeit, a park FULL of activity well connected with the rest of the neighborhood.
In fact, we imagine the new Sóller Park as the backbone center of a footpaths system in the neighborhood so again becoming a center of reference for all the neighbors, whatever their age, occupation or interests.
The park should be the center of all that is collective, promoting those activities that make us be together and share ... and therefore it is proposed a huge increase in all kinds of activities that might take place there.
Naturally, the park should be a place of passage and a place to stay, a part of the social and urban fabric of the neighborhood but also a very well landscaped place, a space of nature within the city. It should be comfortable, close, friendly… and full of life. All kinds of people might have reason to use it all the time.
It is proposed to the porch, the footbridge and the hard geometric square and complete the lower area of the park with a tree-covered landscape.
It is proposed to lower the level of trees at the Estudiants street level, and have frank continuity with the Palma de Mallorca street.
It is proposed to dispose of the central part of the current building (stairway) to enable this connection. The two side strips of the current building extend into the park and make a new internal space in which it is proposed a yard for parties, large group activities and sports.
The two new buildings may be the new center of the Sóller Square, community centre, gym, auditorium...
Two small volumes around the yard facilitate the sports and recreation uses (sports center, bar, ice-cream shop...)
All the buildings have a garden roof, which is accessible and usable in the main two ones.
A bridge allows the walk between the one and the other, as in the current walkway.
These semi-underground buildings remind those of the Spanish Civil War brickyard shelters. They don’t occupy part of the park but are placed under the vegetal carpet and facilitate the activities.
A new road network with a special colored pavement run the park and connects it with the rest of the neighborhood, without steps, with new gradients.
