Completar la Plaza Catalunya de Barcelona dando forma y sentido a los numerosos subterráneos que existen en ella sería completar el centro de la ciudad.
La Plaza de Catalunya es un centro referencial de la ciudad, un intercambiador de transportes, un centro comercial y un gran espacio urbano, carente casi de dimensión cívica y cultural.
La posibilidad de dotar de uso público y cultural al subterráneo de la zona central de la plaza plantea optimizar y mejorar todas las otras dimensiones de esta plaza.
La propuesta parte de una intervención mínima pero de gran trascendencia. Unificar la plaza subterránea considerando los nuevos espacios del subsuelo junto con los existentes como un gran edificio mixto y multiuso que se relaciona con el exterior a través de la luz. La luz natural inunda el subterráneo durante el día y la luz artificial del subsuelo ilumina el espacio público exterior durante la noche.
